The goal of FOCUS is to promote self-sufficiency for women by helping them overcome personal, employment and environmental obstacles. The majority of women served are single mothers, struggling with midlife issues, as well as older women transitioning into the workforce. The main goal is to build a community network of women who mentor other women to help them remain self-sufficient, build self-esteem, grow and succeed in life and in their careers.
The $10,000 grant from the J. Jill Compassion Fund is being used to support the FOCUS Women’s Alliance for Self-Sufficiency program, whose goal is to raise the standard of living above the poverty level and enable women to eliminate their dependency on social programs.
