Ascension Place exists to serve disenfranchised women facing some of life’s most challenging issues: abuse, homelessness, chemical dependency or other emotional traumas. Since opening its doors in 1981, Ascension Place has instilled in its clients the self-confidence and skills that enable them to face the world again.

Up to thirty-two women at a time are permitted to live at Ascension Place until they find suitable housing in a healthy environment. The average stay is approximately four months. During this time, the women are assigned an advocate who works with them to develop an individual progress plan that includes programs and support services geared toward helping them become self-sufficient.

Each year, approximately eighty women are served by Ascension Place and provided with three meals daily; physical, educational and artistic activities and outings; chemical health groups; private bedrooms; a registered on-staff nurse; and a family room for visits with their children.

The J. Jill Compassion Fund grant of $15,000 is being used to fund Ascension Place’s resident activities program.
