Heart House, Inc. offers free after-school programs that provide a safe haven and academic support to low-income children while encouraging them to become good citizens. As part of a thematic teaching approach, the children learn about technology, health and urban safety, the arts, physical education and character development. Field trips and hands-on working experiences are also used as enrichment tools to expand upon the children’s prior knowledge.

After opening its doors in Dallas in 2000, Heart House was able to establish a second Dallas location in 2001 and an Austin facility in 2002. Heart House is open for three hours after school, Monday through Friday, with extended hours during summer and winter breaks.

The J. Jill Compassion Fund grant of $15,000 keeps these much needed learning programs focused on delivering superior quality services.
